It's that Leica glow...!
‘There are three kinds of pipe. There’s aluminum, which is garbage. There’s bronze, which is pretty good, unless something goes wrong. And something always goes wrong. Then, there’s copper, which is the only pipe I use. It costs money. It costs money because it saves money.’ ~ Cosmo Castorini from Moonstruck
Last night I had a kind of crazy dream. Barbara Streisand let me wear her $60,000 diamond ring for the evening…which I promptly lost. No worries, though. She was very understanding about it and said that I could work out a payment plan to reimburse her. I thanked her profusely-truly grateful on the outside, in full freakout mode on the inside. I’m screaming in my head “sixty thousand dollars!!!! That’s a Porshe, a Mercedes, a small mortgage, almost six Leica Noctilux lenses!!!!” And then I woke up.
I remember back in my DSLR days when I used to cringe over the cost of a Canon L lens. I never thought I would look at them now and think “how affordable.” Yes, Leica is that ‘copper pipe’. A Leica lens will last you a lifetime. Leica has forever skewed altered my perception of value…and not necessarily in a good way-just ask my significant other. I am constantly plotting how to finance my next Leica purchase.
The bottom line is once you go Leica, you never go back. Same with Apple. Now I just need to find that champagne pocketbook to go along with my champagne taste…Dom Perignon, of course.
